Sensei Yoshisada Yonezuka

Best known as "Yone" by students and friends, Yoshisada Yonezuka
began training as a child in Japan, participating in Sumo and Track at
school between his 7th and 15th years. His journey to becoming a prominent
figure in Judo and two-time Olympic coach spans the ocean between Japan
and the United States, as well as several decades.
In 1954 he started Judo at high school and became the Northern Japan
High School Champion in 1955. Defeating six 1st degree black belts in
succession at Kodokan, he received a special promotion to 2nd degree black
belt.
